NIPSCO says its first two Indiana-based solar projects are now online. Indiana Crossroads Solar in White County was developed by EDP Renewables North American and generates 200 megawatts. The first phase of NextEra Energy Resources' Dunns Bridge Solar generates 265 megawatts in Jasper County.

Watch for lane closures on U.S. 30 in Schererville on Thursday. The town says the right lanes will be closed in both directions west of Joliet Street/Old Lincoln Highway between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. There will also be some total closures lasting up to 15 minutes.

NIPSCO is warning customers to expect higher natural gas bills this winter. The utility says it expects to pay more for natural gas due to market conditions — costs that are out of its control and will be passed along to customers. The average residential customer can expect to pay about $661 over the five-month "heating season," assuming normal weather, about $100 more than last year.
