The Times of NWI award-winning journalist Joseph Pete joins “Regionally Speaking” host Chris Nolte to talk about his latest book “Lost Hammond Indiana”. The book focuses on the lost history of Hammond, the city’s rich history in industries such as steel mills, oil refineries and ports as well as a look at how it earned the title “Atlantic City on the Lake”. Of course no book about the rich history of Hammond would be complete without a nod to native son Jean Shepherd’s “A Christmas Story” fame.

Lakeshore Public Radio 89.1FM, initially known as The Lakeshore 89.1FM, first hit the airwaves across Northwest Indiana on January 19, 2010. The station was created after the board of directors for Lakeshore Public Media, which also operates our sister station Lakeshore PBS, saw the need for regional access to a public radio station in order to provide localized up-to-the-minute news and information for NW Indiana residents.
