Gary Community Schools to help students earn tech certification with online 'summer camp'

The Gary Community School Corporation says it’s giving high school juniors and seniors a chance to earn a sought-after tech certification.

District manager MGT Consulting and its nonprofit arm, the Institute for Racial Injustice Solutions, have partnered with a company called Trek10. Its instructors will offer a 10-week online summer camp for up to 40 students to prepare them for the Amazon Web Services Certified Cloud Practitioner exam.

MGT officials say studies show that a majority of African American and Hispanic individuals could be underprepared for the majority of jobs by 2045, and the camp aims to address that disparity.
