One person is dead, after a crash in Gary involving a Lake County Police officer.
Indiana State Police say it happened shortly after noon Wednesday at 5th Avenue and Colfax. Investigators believe Deputy Zachary Norcutt was driving his police car eastbound on 5th Avenue, when it hit a Toyota Corolla that was trying to turn left onto Colfax.
Police say the driver of the Toyota was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. Deputy Norcutt was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. His police K9 was not injured.
