Another Downtown Valparaiso building will soon meet the wrecking ball. The city's board of works last week hired C. Lee Construction to tear down 306 Lincolnway for a cost of up to $156,400.

Two neighboring buildings were torn down last year, but 306 Lincolnway required more engineering evaluation — since it shares a wall with the building to the east, which will remain standing. The city plans to replace the buildings with a parking lot, at least temporarily, while a new garage is built across the street. The site could then be made available for future development.

Cafe306 was forced to move out of the building last spring, to prepare for the demolition.
