U.S. 12 will close next week east of Gary, as work continues on the South Shore Line's Double Track project.
Starting Monday, U.S. 12 will be closed between Old Hobart Road and County Line Road, as crews install bridge supports for the railroad. The closure is scheduled to last about five days.
The Indiana Department of Transportation's official detour uses U.S. 20 and State Road 149.
