Round-the-clock snow removal efforts continue in Gary

city of Gary

Gary street crews continue working around the clock to clear the streets of snow. Deputy Mayor Trent McCain says the city got over 13 inches in a 48-hour period earlier this week.

"Since Tuesday of this week, we have run six back-to-back 12-hour shifts, 24-hour-a-day coverage. We intend to continue to run back-to-back 12-hour shifts until next Tuesday," McCain told the rest of the Gary Board of Works Friday.

He says the main arteries remain the first priority, followed by side streets and then alleys. He thanked all of the city departments, as well as the citizens who've volunteered to help their neighbors.
