The city of Hammond is the backdrop to one of America's most beloved holiday movies Jean Shepard's A Christmas Story. The city was also home to one of the first NFL teams. Lakeshore Public Radio's Michael Gallengber and Tom Maloney speak to Curtis Vosti, author of the new book Images in America Hammond.

The Images of America series celebrates the history of neighborhoods, towns and cities across the country. Arcardia Publishing uses archival photographs to present the distinctive stories from the past that shape the character of the community today.

As Vice President of Radio Operations, Tom is responsible for overseeing Lakeshore Public Radio. He oversees the radio station’s programming, as well as news. He was instrumental in bringing several different genres of music to Lakeshore Public Radio.
Before joining Lakeshore Public Media, Michael honed his skills as a news anchor and reporter at WKVI/WYMR in Knox, Indiana, and served as a correspondent for the Starke County Leader. Armed with a BA from Valparaiso University, majoring in Digital Media and Humanities with a minor in Spanish, and an MS in Digital Media, Michael brings a wealth of knowledge to his role at Lakeshore.
