Rock Troubadour Gets "Compromised" On Midwest BEAT

by Rowland Scherman

This edition of “MIDWEST BEAT with Tom Lounges” originally aired on Tuesday, January 26, 2016

GUEST:  Singer/Songwriter STEVE FORBERT

This edition of “Midwest BEAT with Tom Lounges” features musical guest STEVE FORBERT, who chats about his career, songwriting and his sixteenth and latest studio album, “COMPROMISED,” which is now available from Ridge Rock Records.

STEVE FORBERT left his hometown of Meridian, Mississippi  while in his early 20s and headed for the Big Apple in search of fame, fortune and a record deal.  He started out playing for change at Grand Central Station, eventually moving into the club scene, playing Greenwich Village folk haunts and infamous spots like CBGB’s.   This was at a time when his style of  rootsy rock was fading in favor of New Wave bands like Talking Heads and Blondie.  Despite the odds, Forbert landed his now folk-pop classic, “Romeo’s Tune,”  in the National Top 15 Singles Chart, forever putting him on the global radar.

Along with some lively conversation, this program features several selections from Forbert’s new CD, “COMPROMISED,” and of course, his trademark song, “Romeo’s Tune.”
