British Guitar Great MARTIN BARRE Brings New Music To His Fans

MUSICAL GUEST:  MARTIN BARRE (formerly of Jethro Tull)

 

The musical guest for this edition of “Midwest BEAT with Tom Lounges” is legendary British rock guitarist — MARTIN BARRE — who for 43 years was the renowned guitarist of JETHRO TULL.  Martin’s unique sound and style contributed enormously to Tull’s success.

 

Martin has worked on projects with the likes of Paul McCartney, Phil Collins, Gary Moore, and Joe Bonamassa, among others.  During his storied career, Martin has shared concert stages with such legends like Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac and Led Zeppelin.

 

In recent years, Martin has been touring the world with his own band,  playing classic Jethro Tull tunes, and songs from his trio of solo albums.   THE MARTIN BARRE BAND performed at Chicago’s MARTYR’S night club on TUESDAY,APRIL 26th and featured tunes from his new solo CD, “BACK TO STEEL,” some of which is featured on tonight’s program.   The line-up of THE MARTIN BARRE BAND is rounded out by drummer George Lindsay, bassist Alan Thomson vocalist Dan Crisp.

Tom Lounges has been a region radio personality and a music journalist since 1979. For the last 35-years, he has been reporting on entertainment as a weekly columnist and feature writer for The Times newspaper. He was also publisher and editor of the monthly tri-state entertainment magazine ("Midwest BEAT Magazine") for over two decades, he has written hundreds of features for numerous national glossy magazines over the decades, and he wrote "Liner Notes" for over a dozen albums release by Sony Records.
