JIM PETERIK Re-Imagines His Biggest Radio Hits in New Ways on "The Songs"

This edition of “MIDWEST BEAT with Tom Lounges” originally aired on Tuesday, May 24, 2016

GUEST:   JIM PETERIK  /  TOPIC:  “THE SONGS”

The musical guest on this edition of “Midwest BEAT with Tom Lounges” is Grammy Award-winning songwriter and performer JIM PETERIK, who returned to the program to discuss his latest album, “The Songs,”  from which selections are spotlighted.

Peterik delivers a fresh take on some of his biggest hits on this album and also at the shows supporting it, such as the JUNE 4th concert at The Acorn Theatre in Three Oaks, Michigan.   More: www.acorntheater.com or (219) 756-3879.

The Acorn Theatre gig is one of handful currently being done to promote “The Songs,” a collection of some of his greatest commercial rock hits re-imagined and re-recorded in alternate musical styles, such as a bluegrass treatment of his biggest career hit, “Eye of the Tiger,” and a chamber quartet delivery of “Caught Up In You,” the hit he wrote with Southern rockers .38 Special.

Thirteen songs are featured on this new album — eleven of his best-loved and well known tunes are given a fresh, performance treatment on the album — two are brand new compositions.

Show host/producer Lounges talk to his old friend about the album’s concept, the making of it, and what fans can expect to see and hear at The Acorn Theatre and other live shows promoting it, where the famous songs will also be performed with all the new twists.  More: www.jimpeterik.com.
