Former Tull Guitarist MARTIN BARRE Returns "Midwest BEAT" to Chat with Tom Lounges

This Edition of “MIDWEST BEAT with Tom Lounges” originally aired on Tuesday, September 27, 2016

Musical Guest:  MARTIN BARRE (formerly of Jethro Tull)

This show marked the return appearance of former JETHRO TULL guitarist MARTIN BARRE on  “Midwest BEAT with Tom Lounges.”   For over 43 years Martin was not only the lead guitarist of JETHRO TULL, but a frequent guest on albums by some of the music’s biggest starts — like Paul McCartney, Phil Collins, Gary Moore, and Joe Bonamassa, among others.

During the course of his career, Martin has performed live gigs with such legends like Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac and Led Zeppelin.   In recent years, Martin has been touring the world with his own band, playing classic Jethro Tull tunes, mixed with  original songs from the three albums released under his own name.

That said — THE MARTIN BARRE BAND perform on Friday, September 30th at REGGIE’S night club in Chicago, a show that is sure to feature a few songs from Martin’s latest solo album, “BACK TO STEEL,” so this radio program will likewise spotlight tracks from that album.

The line-up of THE MARTIN BARRE BAND is rounded out by drummer George Lindsay, bassist Alan Thomson vocalist Dan Crisp.

Tom Lounges has been a region radio personality and a music journalist since 1979. For the last 35-years, he has been reporting on entertainment as a weekly columnist and feature writer for The Times newspaper. He was also publisher and editor of the monthly tri-state entertainment magazine ("Midwest BEAT Magazine") for over two decades, he has written hundreds of features for numerous national glossy magazines over the decades, and he wrote "Liner Notes" for over a dozen albums release by Sony Records.
