The musical guest this installment of the weekly “A LOOK AT THE ARTS with Tom Lounges” is multi-talented performer MINDI ABAIR — who performed live with DAVID SANBORN the evening of the broadcast (Friday, September 30) at THE VENUE at Blue Chip Casino in Hammond, Indiana.

An accomplished vocalist and songwriter, who has impacted multiple musical genres, including jazz, pop, rock, R&B, and funk, MINDI ABAIR is currently one of the most respected saxophonists in music today.

This two time Grammy Award-nominee’s career includes seven critically acclaimed solo albums and numerous collaborations with top-shelf international musicians. This program treats listeners to songs from her latest live concert album “LIVE IN SEATTLE,” and her newest studio album, “WILD HEART.”

MINDI ABAIR has scored ten #1 radio hits, was the featured saxophonist on the 2011 and 2012 seasons of “American Idol,” jammed with Paul Shaffer on the Late Show with David Letterman,” and rocked with Aerosmith on their 2012 summer tour.

This program spotlights selections from Abair’s two latest albums as she discusses her incredible musical  journey, which began when she was only 8-years-old and continues to flourish.

For the last 35-years, he has been reporting on entertainment as a weekly columnist and feature writer for The Times newspaper. He was also publisher and editor of the monthly tri-state entertainment magazine ("Midwest BEAT Magazine") for over two decades, he has written hundreds of features for numerous national glossy magazines over the decades, and he wrote "Liner Notes" for over a dozen albums release by Sony Records.
