Double-Shot of Guitar Greats -- MICHAEL SCHENKER & TED NUGENT -- Tear Up The Air!

This edition of  “MIDWEST BEAT with Tom Lounges” originally aired on Tuesday, April 25

MUSICAL GUESTS: MICHAEL SCHENKER & TED NUGENT

APRIL IS INTERNATIONAL GUITAR MONTH!  In honor of that, each week in APRIL "MIDWEST BEAT with TOM LOUNGES" features a Guitar Guest.

Because this week's guitar-driven installment of "MIDWEST BEAT with Tom Lounges," is the final installment of the month long "INTERNATIONAL GUITAR MONTH" series of shows featuring top guitar-slingers -- this program squeezes in TWO of host Tom Lounges' favorite teenage guitar heroes.

The first half of the show features MICHAEL SCHENKER -- formerly of The Scorpions and UFO -- connecting in a trans-Atlantic call.    Schenker is  currently promoting a brand new MSG project called "MICHAEL SCHENKER FEST - TOKYO" that features all three of MSG's former vocalists GARY BARDEN, GRAHAM BONNET and ROBIN McAUALEY.   You'll hear 4 live tracks from the just released "Michael Schenker Fest - Tokyo" CD/DVD, one featuring each of the three famous singers, plus one showcasing all three of them belting out a classic UFO song together!

The last 25 minutes of of the program features TED NUGENT commenting on his love of Gibson guitars and some of his early guitar heroes, along with two vintage Nugent recordings that Tom Lounges used to crank up while cruising during his wayward youth!

"Man, tonight I'm gonna feel like that 16 year old kid again rocking out at the Hammond Civic Center," said Lounges of this evening's program.

Tom Lounges has been a region radio personality and a music journalist since 1979. For the last 35-years, he has been reporting on entertainment as a weekly columnist and feature writer for The Times newspaper. He was also publisher and editor of the monthly tri-state entertainment magazine ("Midwest BEAT Magazine") for over two decades, he has written hundreds of features for numerous national glossy magazines over the decades, and he wrote "Liner Notes" for over a dozen albums release by Sony Records.
