CASHBOX KINGS Cash Out Doing Old School Blues Sound with a Contemporary Groove

The edition of "Midwest Beat with Tom Lounges originally aired on October 12, 2018 on 89.1FM-Lakeshore Public Radio

MUSICAL GUESTS: OSCAR WILSON & JOE NOSEK of THE CASHBOX KINGS

Paying homage to the blues sounds of the 1940s and 1950s, without coming off like a retro "museum piece" is a tough balance, but THE CASHBOX KINGS pull it off well on "Royal Mint," their ninth career album and their critically acclaimed debut release for Chicago's Alligator Records.   The two principle vocalists and songwriters of the group OCSAR WILSON and JOE NOSEK chat with show host TOM LOUNGES on this week's edition of the program, which also features many musical selections from their latest album release, "Royal Mint."

Tom Lounges has been a region radio personality and a music journalist since 1979. For the last 35-years, he has been reporting on entertainment as a weekly columnist and feature writer for The Times newspaper. He was also publisher and editor of the monthly tri-state entertainment magazine ("Midwest BEAT Magazine") for over two decades, he has written hundreds of features for numerous national glossy magazines over the decades, and he wrote "Liner Notes" for over a dozen albums release by Sony Records.
