This installment of "Midwest BEAT with Tom Lounges" finds international country-blues star, ELVIN BISHOP, calling in to discuss his long recording career, his friendship with Charlie Daniels, his penchat for gardening during the pandemic, and his brand new album, "100 Years of The Blues" (Alligator Records), which found Bishop paired up with iconic harmonica man CHARLIE MUSSELWHITE.
This is Bishop's second appearance on "Midwest BEAT with Tom Lounges," and he always charms our listening audience with his warm, humorous and down home manner of speaking, along with sharing stories from his many decades in music and guiding us through the behind the scenes stories.
On this program, TOM LOUNGES has Bishop reflecting back on his Butterfield days in Chicago and how he came to find his trademark guitar while playing in a blues bar in Chicago. Lots of great stories and some tasty blues music from the new album is heard here.
Lounges has revealed how Bishop has been a personal favorite of his since first discovering the live version of "Struttin' My Stuff," when he was just a youth. "Elvin has a powerful personality that comes through in his playing and his recordings," said Lounges. "There is something so inherently 'genuine' about the music he makes that always connects with me and I'm sure with others. Which is why Elvin's career has lasted so long and been so fruitful."
