Willie Niles Career Remains Strong With New Album

New York rocker Willie Nile returns to the program for another chat with longtime friend, show host Tom Lounges. This time, it's to spotlight songs from and chat about his latest, 11 song album, "The Day The Earth Stood Still."

Willie is currently touring behind that album and will be stopping for a show this Saturday, October 16th at The Acorn Theater.

Nile has been a favorite of Lounges since the two first met in the 1980s when Nile was heralded by the media as one of rock's best songwriters. Since then, his fellow artists have joined in the chorus of giving respect and praise to Nile's musical craftsmanship, among them Bono, Lucinda Williams, Lou Reed, Pete Townshend, Little Steven and Bruce Springsteen.  Bruce in fact, frequently invites Willie to jam with him and his E-Streeters at shows.

Every time I have Willie on a radio show with me, I get great feedback from listeners who somehow were not aware of this incredible rocker.  Every time I have taken someone to a Willie Nile live concert, they are blown away by the sheer energy of his performances and his top shelf band.  Just ask my wife Alice!  She was one of those converts.

By now everyone should know the name and music of Willie Nile, but for those who don't, Please tune in this evening and plan to become a convert yourself.

"The Day The Earth Stood Still" includes a track with a guest appearance by STEVE EARL and it's safe to say that is one of the tunes that will be featured tonight on Lakeshore's "Midwest BEAT" program.
