Building Northwest Indiana, October 1, 2019 - Pt. 2

This week on “Building Northwest Indiana Radio” host Kevin Comerford of the Construction Advancement Foundation continues his conversation with Bill Hanna, President and CEO of the Northwest Indiana Regional Development Authority, to discuss the Northwest Indiana Double Tracking Project.

This project plan details proposed improvements to the South Shore Line traveling approximately 25 miles through Lake, Porter and La Porte Counties, and the communities of Gary, Portage, Ogden Dunes, Dune Acres, Beverly Shores, Pines and Michigan City, Indiana. The project’s main component is to add a second track to the single-track route, and move the street-running tracks along 10th and 11th Streets in Michigan City. This will allow the South Shore Line to add trains for more frequent service, reduce delays and improve travel times.

Tune in to find out how this project will enhance quality of life for Northwest Indiana residents during Morning Edition, Regionally Speaking and All Things Considered on Lakeshore Public Radio – 89.1fm or streaming online at Lakeshorepublicradio.org

Lakeshore Public Radio 89.1FM, initially known as The Lakeshore 89.1FM, first hit the airwaves across Northwest Indiana on January 19, 2010. The station was created after the board of directors for Lakeshore Public Media, which also operates our sister station Lakeshore PBS, saw the need for regional access to a public radio station in order to provide localized up-to-the-minute news and information for NW Indiana residents.
