Indiana Economic Digest

Today:   The Indiana Gaming Commission says monthly revenue at Indiana casinos decreased in January.  "Indiana Gaming Insight" newsletter editor Ed Feigenbaum takes a look at why the northwest Indiana casinos didn't bring in as much. He also talks about a bill sponsored by State Rep. Todd Huston that -- if it passes and enacted into law -- would amend current law to eliminate the $3 floor admission tax.  That will mean a big hit in casino revenues to local governments.

Also -- a conversation with Gary-Chicago International Airport Authority chairman Stephen Mays on tonight's first-in-a-series public workshops on the proposed Airport Master Plan Update.  Chicago-based Jacobsen-Daniels is working with a team of local sub-contractors to study and draft the update, which will determine the direction of the Airport for the next ten years or so. These workshops will be held in Gary over the next few months.

Lakeshore Public Radio's Steven Lattimore went to the Chicago Auto Show last week and he offers this page from his reporter's audio notebook on how the innovations proposed by the automakers will affect northwest Indiana steelmakers.

Chris Nolte produces and hosts “Regionally Speaking” aired weekdays from noon to 1:00 p.m. He's also the temporary local "Morning Edition" host.
