Regionally Speaking, Monday, August 14, 2017

AP

Today: "South Bend Tribune" political writer and columnist Jack Colwell joins us to talk about his latest column, also found on "Howey Politics Indiana," about what one author noted -- from an actual pre-campaign event in 2011 --  how seriously President Donald Trump takes everything, even jokes aimed in his direction.

The creator of Green Sense Farms in Portage, Robert Colangelo, is the recipient of one of the latest Innovator Awards from the Society of Innovators in Northwest Indiana.  We talk with him about "vertical farming" and how he's taken toe concept beyond the Region to across the country and around the world.

We bring back our conversation with Valparaiso Community Schools Superintendent Ric Frattacia as the VCS begins a new school year with the opening of a new elementary school -- the first one south of U.S. 30 in a growing section of the city.  And Indiana Public Broadcasting's Barbara Brosher begins a series of reports on the Hoosier State's public defender system.

Chris Nolte produces and hosts “Regionally Speaking” aired weekdays from noon to 1:00 p.m. He's also the temporary local "Morning Edition" host.
