What's The Difference Between "Service Animals" And "Comfort Animals?"

odyssey website

A recent incident at the County Line Orchard between a visitor to the business and two employees raised the question:  what is a "service animal" and what is considered a "comfort animal?"  Associate Producer  Dee Dotson brought together two experts on the topic for these conversations on Wednesday.

Peter Berg is a veteran specialist and trainer at Chicago-based Great Lakes ADA Center -- and Rebecca Huss is a professor at the Valparaiso University School of Law.  We begin by Mr. Berg to explain the ADA and the laws around the use of service animals.

Chris Nolte produces and hosts “Regionally Speaking” aired weekdays from noon to 1:00 p.m. He's also the temporary local "Morning Edition" host.
