Today:  a conversation with Indiana Youth Institute President and CEO Tami Silverman on IYI programs underway and planned in northwest Indiana, as well as a new "Race for Results" report that highlights achievement and outcome gaps between different racial groups of children in Indiana and around the country.  Tami also talks about the importance of instilling in youngsters a philanthropic attitude.

Michael McCall, the chief strategy officer for Fair Oaks Farms in Newton County, talks about the farm-agriculture-entertainment complex's new hotel being built along I-65.  It will be a Fairfield Inn & Suites with a unique design that takes advantage of Fair Oaks Farm's farm motif.

We bring back our conversation with Portage Police Chief Troy Williams about the efforts to fight crime spilling across the state lines into the Region.

And Ed Feigenbaum, editor and publisher of "Indiana Gaming Insight" newsletter, has the latest revenue report from the northwest Indiana casinos -- and news of an important meeting in Indianapolis on Thursday for executives of Ameristar Casino in East Chicago.  They want to make some big changes, now that state law allows them to do so -- and Ed has all the details for us.

Chris Nolte produces and hosts “Regionally Speaking” aired weekdays from noon to 1:00 p.m. He's also the temporary local "Morning Edition" host.
