Regionally Speaking, Tuesday, November 28, 2017

Indiana Democratic Party Caucus

Today:  an extended conversation with Indiana State Representative Charlie Brown (D-Gary) about his plans not to seek re-election in 2018 and what his plans are for his last General Assembly session beginning in January.

He talks about some of the issues he's supported -- including the creation of the "Healthy Indiana Plan" in 2007 and the statewide smoking ban (and his plans to revisit that ban next session).  And Rep. Brown offers some clues about his interest in local politics.

Debie Coble, the President and CEO of Goodwill Industries of Michiana, Inc. joins us to talk about the December 6th free Senior Community Service Program Application day to be held in Rensselaer and the latest on the programs and services offered at Goodwill's Community Career Centers -- the newest of which is in Griffith.

We offer another conversation from the Welcome Project at Valparaiso University and Mike Martinez, the co-founder of "Hannah's Hope" is back to talk about the non-profit that provides developmental playground equipment for children with special needs and connects families.  A new playground just opened recently in Portage.

Chris Nolte produces and hosts “Regionally Speaking” aired weekdays from noon to 1:00 p.m. He's also the temporary local "Morning Edition" host.
