More Rounds of Snow Hitting Northwest Indiana

Lakeshore Public Media

NORTHWEST INDIANA - Northwest Indiana is getting hit with more snow.  Ricky Castro, Meteorologist with the Chicago National Weather Service in Romeoville says the system is going to be a continuation of what the Region received over the weekend.  Castro says the snow on Monday was expected to arrive in Northwest Indiana at around three in the afternoon, or slightly before.

"For this event we're looking at snowfall totals of two to five inches.  And then quick on it's heels after that ends later this evening attention will turn to our next system which will arrive tomorrow (Tuesday) evening and come to an end sometime Wednesday morning," Castro says.  "And with that we're looking at snow amounts of one to three inches with that."

Castro says yet another system, where snow is possible, is coming to the Region Thursday evening and during the day on Friday.

"There's a little bit of uncertainty how that would play out but that's the next period to watch for potential snow accumulations," Castro says.  "As well as even Saturday, over the weekend, can't rule out some precipitation type concerns over the weekend.  It's too early to say on that but so the main periods of concern are what's ahead of us right now today (Monday) with several inches of snow, another one to three inches tomorrow (Tuesday) evening into Wednesday morning and then the next round of snow starting possibly as soon as Thursday evening."

Castro says the question still remains, 'what's in store for the weekend?' but as far as today and the next couple of days, there is definitely a very active pattern of weather systems for Lake, Porter, Newton and Jasper Counties.
