Indiana Senate Democrats

Today:  Northwest Indiana state Senator Karen Tallian (D) is in the studio to talk about her recent trip to Winnipeg, Manitoba to participate in the annual Midwestern Legislative Conference of both U.S. and Canadian lawmakers.  The group discusses key topics on both sides of the border -- including trade and NAFTA.  Karen also talks about her meeting with Canada's national minister for natural resources, on what Canada's been doing to research and promote the industrial hemp economy.

We bring you another edition of "Green Fleet Radio," with Carl Lisek, supported by South Shore Clean Cities.  Today's conversation is with the sustainability director of the city of South Bend.

Sarah Ferraro and Gabriella Hay with "RiseNWI" are with us to talk about the nonpartisan organization that works to empower local residents to be strong advocates for the quality of life in northwest Indiana. "RiseNWI" is funded though a partnership with the Legacy Foundation of Lake County and the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.

And activist and author Jeff Biggers talks about his latest book "Resistance: Reclaiming an American Tradition."  It's a book that he says was inspired by his son's inquisitive nature.

Chris Nolte produces and hosts “Regionally Speaking” aired weekdays from noon to 1:00 p.m. He's also the temporary local "Morning Edition" host.
