Regionally Speaking, Wednesday, August 29, 2018

Indiana Public Media

Today:   Lorelei Weimer, the executive director of Indiana Dunes Tourism, joins us to talk about the concerted lobbying effort, both locally and in Washington, to get the Indiana  Dunes National Lakeshore elevated to National Park status.  She tells us the latest on that, as well as more about the new video series about the Indiana Dunes State Park and National Lakeshore that is now on the Indiana Dunes Tourism YouTube channel.  The series is entitled "Dunes 101."

We bring you another edition of "Green Fleet Radio," supported by South Shore Clean Cities.   This time, host Cark Lisek chats with the sustainability director for the city of Whiting.

Sam Love, the president of Gary Artist Residency, is back with the latest programs encouraging residents to support the arts in northwest Indiana.  He talks about the Red Container "mini-residencies" in the Miller neighborhood, at the Farmer's Market grounds on South Lake Street and other programs next month.  The Legacy Foundation of Lake County is supporting some of the Artist Residency's expansion plans.

We also bring back two conversations centered around the Jesse Brown Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Chicago, which serves northwest Indiana vetereans.

Chris Nolte produces and hosts “Regionally Speaking” aired weekdays from noon to 1:00 p.m. He's also the temporary local "Morning Edition" host.
