Regionally Speaking, Monday, September 10, 2018

Today:   Purdue University Northwest professor David Detmer joins us to talk about his latest book, "Zinnophobia: The Battle over History in Politics and Scholarship."  It focuses on the famous author Howard Zinn, his teachings and books that looked at bias and objectivity in history, and how then-Governor Mitch Daniels wanted to ban the teaching of one of Zinn's books in Hoosier schools.

Northwest Indiana political activist Ruth Needleman is in the studio to talk about a public forum Tuesday evening at Indiana University Northwest titled "The Politics of Immigration and Racism."  It will cover a number of issues, including government policy, roadblocks and obstacles to a path to citizenship, weekly family separations and deportation from the Gary airport.  The public forum begins at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium in the Savannah Center.  Ruth says there willbe a "blueribbon" panel at discuss the isues

And Lakeshore Public Radio's Sharon has a "season wrap" report on shows at the 2018 Ravinia Festival in Chicago.
