Purdue University Northwest

Today:   We begin with the latest news on the impending closing of the Southlake Mall Sears store and the impact on the city of Hobart.  Mayor Brian Snedecor talks with us about what mall owners have told him and his own thoughts on the future of the space (that, by the way, belongs to Sears and not the mall).  He also talks about the expanding business and industrial sector in Hobart -- the need for more housing -- and what two developers are doing to meet the future need for new homes.   Purdue University Northwest athletics director Rick Costello is in the studio to talk about the announcement that PNW is now an official member of NCAA Division II and the impact on the Hammond and Westville campuses and the student-athletes.

We also bring you this week's edition of "Building Northwest Indiana, " with Kevin Comerford of Construction Advancement Foundation and his guest PNW Vice Chancellor of Campus Planning Jacob Lenson..

Chris Nolte produces and hosts “Regionally Speaking” aired weekdays from noon to 1:00 p.m. He's also the temporary local "Morning Edition" host.
