White Lodging Laying off 100 Workers

MERRILLVILLE - White Lodging is laying off 100 workers at it corporate headquarters in Merrillville.

The "Times" reports the hospitality company told the Indiana Department of Workforce Development the layoffs will be permanent.

In a letter to the state of Indiana, Chief Human Resources Officer Michael Fischer said the layoffs are due to unforeseeable, dramatic and unprecedented downturn in business and occupancy arising from the coronavirus public health crisis.

All affected employees have been notified and their expected separations from employment expect to begin on May 29th.

The layoffs range from several different positions, including executive jobs, as well as marketing and human resources, sales, business intelligence and project management.  The executive positions include chief information officer and chief operating officer.
