In recognition of Black History Month Lakeshore Public Radio host Dee Dotson speaks with Gary Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Chuck Hughes about the life and legacy of former Gary mayor Richard Gordon Hatcher. Richard Gordon Hatcher was born July 10, 1933 in Michigan City, Indiana. First elected in 1967, he went on to become the first African American mayor of the steel town having served five terms. Richard Gordon Hatcher passed away December 13, 2019.
