Dr. Roland Walker heads Gary’s Health Department and works at the city’s only full-service hospital. He’s been having to care for patients, keeping the public informed and helping his elderly parents.

Walker recently tested positive for COVID-19, but wasn’t showing symptoms.

Now his parents are sick.

"I honestly don’t know? Did I infect my parents because I was asymptomatic. My dad is completely recovered. My mom now is in the ICU at Methodist Hospital. I’m sharing that with you because I’m asking for your prayers," said Walker.

Gary Mayor Jerome Prince got tested for the virus but has not received the results.

The city has 100 confirmed covid-19 cases with 5 deaths.
