Crown Point seeking RAISE grant for new I-65 overpass

City of Crown Point

Crown Point is hoping to get federal funding to build an overpass at 129th Avenue over I-65. The city's board of works Wednesday agreed to hire engineering firm Butler, Fairman & Seufert to help with the city's application for a grant from the Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) program.

Crown Point Chief of Staff Greg Falkowski says the project would include intersection upgrades along 129th and U.S. 231, plus sidewalks, an extension of Veterans Memorial Trail and other infrastructure improvements. He adds that the project would tie into many economic development efforts taking place in the area, like the new Franciscan hospital and proposed subdivisions and business parks.

Crown Point will pay Butler, Fairman & Seufert up to $30,530 to help the city with the RAISE grant application.
