The Lake Central School Corporation is looking to move forward with some facility upgrades. Bibich Elementary School's 12-classroom addition was put on hold last year, after bids came in about 19 percent higher than budgeted.

Director of Facilities Bill Ledyard told the school board Monday that he'll try bidding it out again over spring break. "It'll be the all-encompassing project, as far as the site package, the building package. We'll also have what we're calling the mechanical package, which is basically, to upgrade the mechanical systems in the existing building as it stands, right now," Ledyard explained.

Lake Central also wants to make another attempt at adding lights to the high school varsity baseball and softball fields. St. John officials were opposed to the idea more than a decade ago. But Superintendent Dr. Larry Veracco says technology has improved since then.

"If designed right, the spillage, if you will, the light pollution off our property, would be minimal," Veracco added.

The school corporation also plans to bid out a project to upgrade the high school freshman center's heating and cooling system.
