Qualified Charitable Distributions
AN OPPORTUNITY TO GIVE
Want Lakeshore Public Media to get more and Uncle Sam to get less?
A Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) is a tax-efficient way to make gifts directly from an Individual Retirement Account (IRA), for people older than 70 ½.
QCDs can count towards satisfying an individual’s Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) for the year, which is the minimum amount that an individual must withdraw from their IRA each year. Or you can give more than your RMD – up to $108,000 a year.
Charitable contributions from an IRA must be made out of your IRA directly to a public charity such as Lakeshore Public Media. Contact your IRA provider at your bank or brokerage house to obtain the form that directs this gift. Gifts must be completed by December 31 to qualify for the current year, so act today.
The IRS does not allow any goods or services to be transferred to you in exchange for a contribution from your IRA.
