IN-STUDIO GUESTS:
DONNIE SUMNER (of The Stamps Quartet),
KIPS LIPPS (Founder of Elvis Fantasy Fest) &
CHARLIE SMITH (Actress and Miss Indiana 1964)
The in-studio live guests for this edition of “A LOOK AT THE ARTS with Tom Lounges” have all had their lives impacted by having intersected with ELVIS PRESLEY in some way.
DONNIE SUMNER sang for years with Elvis as a member of both THE STAMPS QUARTET and VOICE vocal groups. Sumner, the nephew of the legendary JD Sumner was a close friend of Presley’s and can be seen performing with the King of Rock ‘N’ Roll in the landmark — “ELVIS: Aloha From Hawaii Via Satellite.”
CHARLIE SMITH — Miss Indiana 1964 — appeared in three ELVIS PRESLEY films — “Spin Out,” “Clam Bake,” “Speedway,” and “Paradise Hawaiian Style” -- credited as ARLENE CHARLES.
KAY LIPPS is an Elvis fan and the co-founder of the annual Portage, Indiana “Elvis FANtasy Fest,” now in its 24th year. The fest raises money in Elvis’ name for the Porter County Special Olympics and takes place today, Saturday and Sunday (October 7, 8 & 9).
This program features Elvis tunes and lots of memories from the guests and the host about Elvis Presley — the man — and the humanitarian.
