Regionally Speaking, Tuesday, October 24, 2017

Today:  we bring back our conversation with Linda Perez, the executive director of St. Jude's House in Crown Point during National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, closing out next week.  We also bring you another conversation from the Welcome Project at Valparaiso University, where first-person stories are paired with intentional conversations to help forge stronger ties within and across communities.

A familiar name in northwest Indiana public education is back at the helm of a local school district, at least for a while.  Lakeshore Public Radio's Sharon Jackson spoke with Michael Berta, who is serving as interim superintendent of the Merrillville Community Schools.

We find out more about the new "The Stage" business incubator in Gary's Miller Beach neighborhood.  Community leaders Gretchen Sipp and Jessica Renslow talk about the new facility.  And Indiana University economist Jerry Conover looks over the non-partisan Tax Foundation's latest report that ranked Indiana as having the best business tax climate in the Midwest.

Chris Nolte produces and hosts “Regionally Speaking” aired weekdays from noon to 1:00 p.m. He's also the temporary local "Morning Edition" host.
