Regionally Speaking, Tuesday, January 2, 2018

Plunkett Raysich Architects

Today:  The city of Portage's veterans committee holds its first 2018 meeting on Wednesday and, to go along with that, we bring back our conversation with Marc Magill, of the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center in Chicago.  He is also responsible for the operations at the VA outpatient clinics in Crown Point and other regional communities.  Marc is conducting regularly quarterly "town halls" to learn from veterans their concerns about healthcare.

We bring you another conversation from the Welcome Project at Valparaiso University -- and from northwest Indiana financial advisor Greg Hammer about the Social Security benefits cost-of-living allowance in effect in 2018.

The distinction between a "service animal" and a "comfort animal" are explained in these conversations with Peter Berg of the Great Lakes ADA Center in Chicago and Valparaiso University School of Law professor Rebecca Huss.

Chris Nolte produces and hosts “Regionally Speaking” aired weekdays from noon to 1:00 p.m. He's also the temporary local "Morning Edition" host.
