Regionally Speaking, Tuesday, December 18, 2018

Frank J. Mrvan's Facebook page

Today:   North Township Trustee Frank J. Mrvan Jr joins us to talk about the issues, facts and discussion surrounding the town of Griffith's request to join North Township, following the community vote for secession from Calumet Township.  The Board of Trustees had to review a lot of information and chose not to make a decision last week... but may decide as soon as tonight.  A decision must be made by December 31st.  St. John Township officials already chose not to accept Griffith into its township government.

We also have another conversation from the Welcome Project at Valparaiso University.  The Welcome Project collects first-person stories and pairs these with intentional conversations to help forge stronger ties within and across our communities.  In this conversation, a Region resident talks about his unseen but debilitating personal disease and how he deals with it.

Conversations with Little Calumet River Basin Development Commission executive director Dan Repay,  Jim Hubbard from the SCORE Northwest Indiana Chapter and Andy Downs of the Mike Downs Center for Indiana Politics in Fort Wayne round out our program today.

Chris Nolte produces and hosts “Regionally Speaking” aired weekdays from noon to 1:00 p.m. He's also the temporary local "Morning Edition" host.
