Today: Scott Pelath, executive director of the Kankakee River Basin and Yellow River Basin Development Commission, is on "Regionally Speaking" to talk about the organization based in Portage and what is planned for 2022 – “a lot going on this year.” The Commission is responsible for water resource planning and development on the rivers in eight counties, including Lake, Porter, Newton, Jasper and LaPorte Counties. Much of the work involves finding solutions to flooding issues along both rivers, since they flow west into Illinois.
