Regionally Speaking, November 18, 2022

Today: As family gathers around the table for the holiday meal, financial advisor Greg Hammer recommends takin some time to have a critical financial conversation to ensure everyone is on the same page. November recognizes National Family Caregivers Month as well as National Hospice Month so Lakeshore Public Radio's Dee Dotson and Tom Maloney speak with local organizations that provide support to help seniors remain in their home for as long as possible. LaVonne Jarret is the director of the VASIA program. She tells us how the organization prepares community volunteers to advocate for the voiceless. We also hear from Erica Kerkes with VNA Hospice. The organization supports families during the end of life experience....later the Alzheimer’s Association offers tips to help caregivers support.  All of that and more on this edition of Regionally Speaking.

As co-host and producer of Regionally Speaking, Dee is responsible for connecting with northwest Indiana community newsmakers to share their stories with the Lakeshore Public Radio listening audience. She believes in the power of storytelling to engag, teach and change lives. Prior to working at Lakeshore Public Radio, Dee enjoyed giving her time, talent, and resources to various community organizations. Dee believes in servant leadership. Her favorite quote is "Leadership is service not position." by Tim Fargo.
