East Chicago Police have a new way to communicate with residents. The city says it's begun using Atlas One.
Residents can download a smartphone app that'll alert them when a public safety issue happens near their current location or a specific place they want to track. Police will be able to include text, photos, videos or voice recordings in the alerts.
East Chicago Police Chief Jose Rivera says in a statement that Atlas One will let officers "communicate in real-time what is happening in the community while receiving crime tips immediately and anonymously."
