Regionally Speaking, Thursday, June 15, 2017

Figg Bridge Partners

Today: It's Reporters Roundtable, when we ask members of the northwest Indiana and Indiana media to talk about the stories they worked on this week.  On this edition of the Roundtable are Greg Tejeda of the Post-Tribune, Lakeshore Public Radio's Steven Lattimore, Indiana Public Broadcasting's Eric Weddle and INside Indiana Business host Andy Ober.

Greg Tejeda will focus on stories from the recent Gary Common Council, including an effort to make sure that a trucking company that wants to locate in the city will educate and hire truck drivers.  Eric Weddle will talk about the return of Tony Walker to the Indiana state Board of Education as its northwest Indiana representative.  Andy Ober will discuss big Indiana business stories, including the link between new owners of Marsh Supermarkets in central Indiana to what's happening in northwest Indiana with a proposed change in the ownership of the Strack and VanTil chain.

Steven Lattimore will tell us about Wednesday's speech in East Chicago by Linda Figg, CEO of Figg Bridge Partners, to the Lakeshore Chamber of Commerce about her business' local project: the Cline Avenue toll bridge.  He'll also preview some upcoming stories, like a series of regular visits by EPA staffers to talk to East Chicago residents about the efforts to resolve their lead-contamination problems.

Chris Nolte produces and hosts “Regionally Speaking” aired weekdays from noon to 1:00 p.m. He's also the temporary local "Morning Edition" host.
