Regionally Speaking, December 9, 2021

Today: Korry Shepard, an amateur Gary historian and Facebook page moderator, is on “Regionally Speaking” to talk about his latest article in the “Times of Northwest Indiana,” this one about the little-known Patch neighborhood and how its immigrant residents were Americanized to help shape the city’s culture.

“Post-Tribune” freelance reporter Carole Carlson joins us to talk about the stories she put out in print and online, including news of a fire that destroyed a downtown Hammond law office, a Lake Station student who’s been banned from school over alleged threats, and the sudden resignation of the chairman of the Gary-Chicago International Airport Authority board.

Indiana Office of Utility Consumer Councilor spokesman Anthony Swinger offered some recent advice on how to save money on winter heating bills, and we revisit that conversation.
