This edition of the "Midwest BEAT with Tom Loungees" radio program has no guests, but is instead a "legacy/tribute" show honoring the music and career of RICK DERRINGER.
Show host/producer Tom Lounges had the good fortune to interview Rick and to take part in some of the live shows Rick did in Chicagoland over the decades ranging from the Chicago Amphitheater to the Pointe East to a gig at the Hobart Jaycee Fest, among others.
Like others who were blessed to hang out with Rick, Tom really thought well of the late artist who passed away suddenly on May 26th at the age of 77.
"Rick's death has left a big hole in the hearts of his fans worldwide. Rick was an awesome guy. He was not only talented, but he was always respectful, gracious, grateful and polite. He was a rock star on stage, but off stage, Rick was just a regular guy. Very down to earth and approachable," said Lounges.
"This edition of my weekly radio program 'Midwest BEAT' is dedicated to Rick and will feature music from throughout various points in his career," continued Lounges. "I'll play some well known hits, a few live tracks and some deeper album cuts. There are also a few surprises that casual Rick fans likely have never heard."
"This program will show Rick was more than just 'Mr. Rock 'n' Roll Hoochie Koo' when I drop in a personal favorite from one of his many blues albums," concluded Lounges. "I'll even spotlight a tune where Rick shows off his jazz side."
