Portage Township Schools

No students were hurt, in a crash involving a Portage Township school bus Friday morning. Liberty Township firefighters believe the bus was heading north on Meridian Road, when a passenger car heading east on County Road 700 North pulled in front of it.

A Portage Township official worries the township could lose money, if the city of Portage creates TIF districts for housing developments.

Portage High School is getting recognized for its efforts to lower the risk of sudden cardiac arrest. It's been designated a Heart Safe School by the non-profit group Project ADAM.

Portage elementary schools now have dedicated school resource officers.

Public schools in Lake County's urban core continue to see declining enrollment. Numbers from the October 1 enrollment count were released by the Indiana Department of Education Thursday.
