Bridge work to bring ramp, lane closures to Region highways

map provided by INDOT

Ongoing bridge work will bring more ramp and lane closures to Region highways.

Starting as soon as Tuesday, the ramp from westbound I-94 to northbound State Road 49 will be closed. That's as work on State Road 49's bridge over Amtrak moves into the right lanes and shoulders, between I-94 and U.S. 20.

The Indiana Department of Transportation asks drivers to exit onto southbound State Road 49 and use the loop ramps to turn around and go north. This phase of work is scheduled to continue through mid-July.

Meanwhile, the ramp from U.S. 12 to northbound State Road 249 into the Port of Indiana is set to close for about three weeks, due to ongoing bridge construction.

Additionally, on U.S. 30, the right lane will be closed in each direction Tuesday, on the Dyer Ditch Bridge, near the border between Dyer and Schererville. The town of Schererville's website says that's for sidewalk work that was delayed from this week, due to weather.
