More lane closures are coming to Region roadways.

Starting as soon as Tuesday, the ramp from westbound I-94 to northbound State Road 49 will be closed. That's as work on State Road 49's bridge over Amtrak moves into the right lanes and shoulders, between I-94 and U.S. 20.

Daytime lane closures are planned on U.S. 30 in the Dyer/Schererville area.

Planners are revising their recommendations for U.S. 30 improvements east of Valparaiso.

"For the kids' safety across Route 30, many of them, they just run across Route 30, and this would be a safety mechanism for them, as well," said Dyer Redevelopment Commission President Mary Tanis.

Starting as soon as Monday, U.S. 30 will be down to one lane in each direction between the state line and Calumet Avenue for a bridge deck overlay project at Plum Creek.

Road work is coming to Broadway in downtown Gary.

Watch for a lower speed limit on U.S. 30, as road work continues in Dyer and Schererville.

Look for more traffic restrictions in Dyer on Friday.

More road work is set to start next week.
