Merrillville Police are investigating, after customers at a business on Broadway had their vehicles booted. Police Chief Wiley Luther Cuttino says a business hired a towing firm to watch its parking lot during a construction project, but apparently failed to consult Indiana Code or the town's ordinances.

The town of Merrillville says it has a trash problem. Town Council President Rick Bella says 644 homes are delinquent in paying their garbage bill, owing a collective $89,000 dollars to Waste Management.

The Merrillville Town Council has rejected a proposal for a new gas station at 73rd and Whitcomb. Council members Tuesday denied a request for a special exception for a Luke Oil station, following an unfavorable recommendation from the board of zoning appeals.
