Construction to continue on I-94, SR 55, South Shore Line

map provided by INDOT

Road work continues next week on region highways.

Starting Sunday, I-94 will be down to two lanes in each direction between Ripley and State Road 249 for preventative bridge maintenance over Willow Creek and the CSX Railroad. The Indiana Department of Transportation says to expect alternating lane and shoulder closures for the next four weeks.

In the Crown Point area, northbound State Road 55 will be closed from 137th Avenue to U.S. 231, starting Monday. Drivers who need to access homes or businesses will need to come from the north. INDOT recommends using State Road 2, I-65 and U.S. 231 as a detour.

On the South Shore Line, the Beverly Shores station will have no service at all for two weeks, starting Monday. Rail service had been replaced with buses, due to the Double Track project. Now, that's being suspended, too, because of the closure of Broadway. Instead, the railroad's asking passengers to drive to Dune Park.
