The town of Dyer is looking to purchase the property next to its Plum Creek Center for a potential parking lot. The redevelopment commission agreed Thursday to offer $281,500 for the home at 2146 Moeller Street, the average of two appraisals the town received.

Hart Street will be closed from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 20 through Thursday, May 22 between 77th Avenue and Stech Street, according to the town's Facebook page.

A town home development is being allowed to move forward in Dyer.

"This means immediate, around-the-clock emergency response, ensuring the highest level of protection for our community," said Fire Chief Joe Martin. "From fire suppression to emergency medical services and rescue operations, our staff will be ready to respond at any hour, every day, directly from Station 18."

Dyer is moving ahead with improvements at Central Park.

Efforts to connect Dyer to the Region's trail system are running into some challenges.

Dyer residents may soon be paying higher utility rates.

"Sheffield Avenue has a center turn lane down the whole entire way," said Town Manager David Hein. "It's not necessarily needed each and every section, so there is some suggestion to do landscaping in the middle to kind of break it up to give it a new look, to kind of make it look like it's revitalized."

"For the kids' safety across Route 30, many of them, they just run across Route 30, and this would be a safety mechanism for them, as well," said Dyer Redevelopment Commission President Mary Tanis.
